Jow Ga Kung Fu training is ideal for people of any age or ability and works on two levels – connecting the mind and engaging the body.
Originally taught to the toughest fighting men of the Chinese Army, Jow Ga utilises long range and short range techniques, combining fast footwork and a combination of three styles of Kung Fu to make you strong and agile, improve your speed and increase your self-confidence.
Be prepared – our classes are energetic! Wearing comfortable gym style clothing, up to 20 students across a wide age range form each group. Loud, modern music signals the start of each lesson, which will typically include:
- Beginning with 5-10 minutes of stretching to get your body ready for action and your mind focused and clear.
- Next comes 30 minutes of fitness training. Expect to find yourself doing pushups, burpees, running, skipping, core work and using the punching bag.
- Classes then break into 30 minutes of group work for beginners, intermediate and advanced skill levels, all practising different forms and techniques.
- Lastly, the whole class joins together once more to end the lesson with a series of cool down exercises and movements.
Unlike most Kung Fu schools, teacher Sifu Luan breaks down each technique into small stages to embed learning – making it easy for everyone to understand and master. And because everything is done to music, there’s no stress – just pure enjoyment.
When Sifu Luan judges you are ready, you can also participate in traditional weapons training if you wish. Using the double sword or pole, for example, is an excellent way to develop the entire body, and concentrates on working your core.
The Lam Tu Luan Kung Fu School also offers individual training sessions or sparring groups of 2 or 3 to increase confidence and improve reflexes.
The key to every class is to have fun! No competitions, no gruelling grading system or stressful tournaments – just a real focus on improving your physical and emotional health.
